Solving Business Needs

No matter what it costs or what label it sports, if it doesn't solve your business need, it is not a solution, just software. Progressive Design builds solutions.

Solving Business Needs

Progressive Design Software starts with your business problem, not a stack of lawyerly specifications, and ends with a solution. The steps in the middle consist of showing real candidate systems to your users and allowing them to perfect them.

Packaged software vendors start off with a piece of software and try to convince you that if they change enough labels and reorder enough screens it will solve all your problems. Their key proposition is that they know so much more than you do that if you do your business their way, you will be better off. The problem is, the only business they have ever been in is the software business. You built your business and know it better than anyone else. PDS believes by listening to you, we can build a better solution than their software can ever be. And, of course, we can do it faster and cheaper than they can.

Traditional custom software development firms want to listen to you, but they're trapped. They know they cannot charge you (usually) for building a quote, but they can not truly tell you how much it will cost without fully designing the system. So they listen as much as they can and rely on being able to expand the scope and charge you more later. And they will make sure you think it is your fault. Because they don't want to push it too far, they ignore some requirements and half-implement others. The end result is a system that almost meets your needs, costs way too much, and is plagued with errors. PDS avoids this Catch-22 by employing the Progressive Design Method.

PDS delivers a solution to your business problem and does it for the exact cost we promised in the beginning.
